Our Guest Sketch Artist for January!

It is with GREAT pleasure that I introduce Deanne Burton, our Guest Sketch Artist for January here at Sketches: Creatively Yours.

Deanne Burton, our January 2010 Guest Sketch Artist

Deanne is a good friend of mine, and I have had the pleasure of working alongside her in various Blogs and Forums on the web. (Plus, I am her biggest fan when it comes to her sketches!!) Deanne has "Guested" here before, both alone and with her talented sisters Carla Robinson and Susan Coish. It's my pleasure to welcome her back!

I asked Deanne to tell me a little bit about her collections. Having known her for awhile, I noticed that she enjoyed this hobby along with her scrapbooking, cardmaking and altering! So I asked her what the scoop was~! Here is what she told me...

I'm a collector of, let's see... SCRAPBOOKING supplies!!! Ha! Really! Oh, and I absolutely adore angels and I started a few years back collecting angel ornaments for my Christmas tree. I currently have over 300 and cannot even fit them all on one Christmas tree. I'm thinking of having TWO trees next year. I'm sure hubby will LOVE that idea!!! NOT!!!
Also in my kitchen when Christmas time rolls around, I put away all things "fruity" and bring out my darling Gingerbread Men, Women, Kids, and Houses! I think gingerbread are the cutest things!!! My darling sister (Hi Carla!!!) gives me an angel or a gingerbread EVERY Christmas (some years she gives me one of each!!! YAY!!!) because she knows how special they are to me.

Deanne is one BUSY woman. she lives in Newfoundland, Canada with her DH and 2 sons, plus Meika, her dog. In addition to being a Full-Time Grade 6 teacher, she works on several Design Teams, plus manages or participates in the administration of several scrapbooking-related blogs and a Forum. She is an inspiring force and an encouraging influence everywhere you find her.

Here are some of the sites Deanne manages or helps with. Be sure to check them out and say hi!

Forum: Sisterhood of Scrap celebrates the joy of scrapbooking with daily inspiration, weekly challenges, prizes, and more! All are invited to register to become a part of this creative and supportive scrapbooking environment!

Blog: Am I a Scrap Addict? features Deanne's DT creations and links to her tutorials. She is a prolific member of many Design Teams and especially loves to work with Digital images on her cards!

Blog: Christmas Cards All Year 'Round features a FUN monthly Challenge to create 5 holiday cards within certain guidelines! There are even prizes!

Blog: Just my Sketches and the Blend Features Deanne's unique sketches paired with songs to inspire you! Deanne also has a Design Team Call out right now and I encourage everyone to apply: Deanne is so much fun to work with and her sketches are so versatile!!

Blog: Create-it GREEN Here, Deanne and her Team of Co-Designers and Contributors inspires others to reduce, reuse and recycle items as part of the creative process, then share the ideas and creations with other crafters.

The first sketch of two created for Sketches: Creatively Yours by Deanne goes up tomorrow, along with our Design Team's interpretations of it.

But: as a special treat, and part of introducing Deanne, I wanted to post another of her amazing sketches from the past. (Yes, I have my favourites!) I pulled this one to share with you all:

Sketch by Deanne Burton for Sisterhood of Scrap, February 7, 2009

Be sure to include a link in the Comments section if you use the sketch! What can YOU create? We'd love to come see it!

Welcome Deanne! Thank You for sharing your talent with us!

Be sure to tune in on Friday, January 15th everyone, for the especially created sketch by Deanne Burton that will be posted for you to use and enjoy! Our Design Team has done some really fab things with it and I can't WAIT to show you!

A Special Sunday Treat!

Seems that I am a little absent-minded and missed posting Ann's interpretation of Sketch #31 this week! How crazy! I only noticed this when tidying my e-inbox today! (Sunday.)
Ann didn't forget to send it (she never does, and is ALWAYS on time) nor did she mention that I had missed it. What a sweetheart!
I am really glad I noticed, but I must ALSO apologize to Ann for literally missing this lovely creation on Friday when I posted.

So.... today I have a Special Sunday Treat for you from my right hand gal: ... Ann Seleshanko!

A layout by S:CY Senior Designer Ann Seleshanko

Ann noted that the photos of these wildflowers were taken in Kananaskis, Alberta... a place I was never privileged to visit during my 5.5 years "out West." I SO loved living there! I CAN vouch for the fact, though, that the wildflowers in that province really are this beautiful!
Gorgeous Ann- thanks for the beautiful LO! You made my Sunday happier... Awesome memories for Peter and I.... our first 2 babies were born out West!

Sketch #31

Hello everyone! Welcome to another fun Friday of sharing at Sketches: Creatively Yours!

Ahhh, let's sweeten the pot!
Everyone who enters a LO using this sketch and posts a link to it in the Comments section will have their name entered into a RAK from Yours Truly, mailed right to your door!!
Go, go, go!!!

Victoria notes that these eye-catching photos were taken in LaPush WA at the Quileute Reserve (yes, of Twilight fame).

A Layout by S:CY Designer Pam Sandy

"New Wheels"

Pam chose rich colours & subtle patterns on her LO to showcase her two darling grandkids on their new bikes!

A Layout by S:CY Designer Jennifer Cassista

"Some Day '05"

Jennifer distressed her papers & embellies for this LO about Ryan and that totally awesome sports-car!! ("Me want one too!!!" Ahh, maybe SOMEDAY!! We can dream Ryan!)

Layout created by S:CY Designer Heather Redmore

"Pout"

Heather told me that she rotated the sketch and used the paper to represent some elements (ie~ the scrolls) in the sketch. She also added a button sun!

You all make me so proud, Heather, Jenn, Victoria, Helen and Pam! I have known a couple of you for years, and some of you are new friends, but please know how much I respect and value the work you are all doing here at Skethces; Creatively Yours.

This goes for every member of the 14-scrapper Design Team we have here at S:CY! I could not ask for a better Team! Bravo!!

Remember... If you try our sketch, I have a RAK being drawn among participants for Jan 14th at noon! One of my kids is off school that day and will draw a name!

On January 15th, I ALSO have a fabulous friend & Guest Sketch Artist to introduce. I can't wait to share the first of TWO creative sketches that she has done especially for S:CY!!

Become a Follower- never miss a thing! Can't wait to see your work!

December 2009 Guest Artist: Gina Rahman-- and a Freebie!

With great pleasure I introduce to you our "Sketches: Creatively Yours" December Guest Artist: Gina Rahman, of "Your Special Delivery."
A Warm Welcome to "Sketches: Creatively Yours," Gina!

I am just over the moon to have you with us this month!

Gina was kind enough to send me her bio, which I have posted just beneath her company's web address & logo for you!

http://www.yourspecialdelivery.co.uk/

"My name is Gina Rahman, I am a stay at home mum to my two boys 4 and 2 years old.
I started to create cards as a hobby until someone prompted me to take it further, I went to a women’s enterprise group and have not looked back since.

I set up my website to initially to sell my cards in January 2009, and through this got into stamping. This then lead me to Digital stamping.

Digi’s are a great alternative to the traditional stamping however you look at it. The best being the cost of a Digital in comparison allowing you to have a bigger stamping stash and create to your hearts content. (No cumbersome new stamps to hide from the DH lol)
I love what I do with a passion as I get to be at home with my two young but ever growing boys and don’t miss out on any of the hugs (selfish I know).

I also get to discover a wealth of talent out there and in some cases give some people the confidence to take their own work to the next level and sell their images.
In time as the YSD grows in popularity with designers and crafters alike I hope it will become a hub to view and buy an eclectic mix of digital products for your cards and scrapping projects.
My work and many of the other designers on the YSD site complies with the Angel policy where your creations can be resold (please see individual designers TOU). I strongly believe that all crafters should support each other in our work and dreams, whatever they may be."

WELCOME, GINA!
